Due to a recent merger and acquisition, the Procurement Department grew from 20 staff members to close to 100 in less than a year. As a result, the department is adapting to changing team members as they mix both new and old employees. The Procurement Department approached InnovatorsBox® to build a sustainable creative work culture focused on collaboration, open-mindedness, and inclusion. They expressed the desire to both engage and retain their team members as they build a more creative culture.
Starting in January 2018, InnovatorsBox® customized a year-long engagement focused on creating transformational culture change. The engagement includes a pre-survey, introductory session, three workshops, conclusion session, and a post-survey for accountability and feedback.
- Creative Confidence Workshop (February 2018): The first 2 hour workshop focused on individual growth and self-awareness. Participants left with a better understanding of how they’re creative as an individual, how others have different strengths, and how they can incorporate more creativity into their everyday lives.
- Creative Resilience Workshop (April 2018): The second 2 hour workshop will be focused on team collaboration and communication. Participants will learn about their creative strengths, how to work with others with different strengths, and how to be resilient in the face of ambiguity.
- Sustaining Innovation Workshop (October 2018): The third 2 hour workshop will be focused on being accountable and sustaining a creative culture. Participants will leave knowing how they can support their work culture, communicate as a leader, and prioritize innovation.
During these workshops, participants will also receive InnovatorsBox®
creative products such as SPARK cards to spark creative thinking in the office. They will also have the chance to interact with coworkers with different personalities and based in different locations to encourage stronger team building.
Since starting the engagement in January 2018, participants are already taking steps to be more creative in the office. They’re bringing SPARK cards to meeting, socializing with coworkers, and being intentional about collaborating with others outside of their direct team. They’ve noted an increased comfort with understanding the opinions of others, asking more questions, and sharing processes within the office. It’s a powerful example of how changes occur slowly over time and InnovatorsBox® is excited for what the rest of 2018 has in store for this company.
